Choosing the right JavaScript framework is one of the most consequential decisions a development team can make. React, Vue, and Angular are the three most popular frontend frameworks, but which one is right for your project?

Rather than relying on anecdotal evidence or marketing claims, SiteGraph analyzed thousands of real websites to compare these frameworks on adoption, SEO performance, and security posture.

Adoption & Popularity

Based on our index of scanned websites, React leads in overall adoption with the largest number of detected sites. Its ecosystem, backed by Meta, has grown to dominate the frontend landscape. Vue has strong adoption, particularly in Asia and among smaller teams looking for a lighter alternative. Angular has steady adoption in enterprise environments, especially in financial services and large-scale applications.

SEO Performance

SEO scores vary across frameworks due to how each handles content rendering. React and Vue both support server-side rendering (Next.js for React, Nuxt for Vue), which significantly improves SEO scores when implemented correctly. Angular has Angular Universal for SSR, but it's less commonly implemented based on our data.

Key SEO factors we measure include proper meta tags, heading structure, semantic HTML, structured data (JSON-LD), and mobile responsiveness. Frameworks used with their SSR or SSG counterparts generally score higher on SEO metrics.

Security Considerations

All three frameworks have good security practices built in, but the surrounding ecosystem matters. React's community has mature security tooling. Vue's smaller surface area can reduce vulnerability exposure. Angular's strict typing and built-in security features (like automatic XSS protection) give it an edge in security-critical applications.

Performance

Performance varies more by implementation than by framework. However, we observe that Vue applications tend to have smaller bundle sizes on average. React applications with Next.js often score well on performance metrics. Angular applications, while feature-rich, tend to have larger initial bundle sizes.

Making Your Choice

The best framework depends on your specific needs: team expertise, project requirements, performance targets, and ecosystem preferences. Use SiteGraph's comparison tool to see the latest data and make an informed decision.

Frequently asked questions

Which framework has the best SEO scores?

Based on our data, React (especially with Next.js) and Vue (with Nuxt) tend to have better SEO scores on average, particularly when server-side rendering is implemented.

Is Angular a good choice for SEO?

Angular can achieve good SEO with Angular Universal, but in our index, fewer sites implement SSR compared to React/Next.js and Vue/Nuxt. This means the average Angular site in our index has lower SEO scores.

Which framework is most secure?

All three have good security fundamentals. Angular's built-in XSS protection and strict typing give it advantages. React and Vue have strong community security practices but require more developer discipline.
